WP2 Requirements

WP2 is dedicated to the definition of the use cases to be implemented and their specifications. The development of technologies, circuits and systems in STARLight define a chain of elements with links among them. The objective of the WP2 is to highlight and specify the dependencies between these elements developed in 3 dedicated work packages (WP3, WP4 and WP5). The WP2 will depict the structure of the project, identify the critical links among the WPs, harvest the requirements and define the specifications of each WP's activities.

The WP2 will stimulate a strong collaboration among partners to synchronize the requirements definition between the different working groups and WPs. It will be necessary not only to implement regular online discussions but also meetings in person to agree on the overall structure and detailed requirements. The monitoring and alignment of the supply chain among the WPs will be performed. It aims the control of the project development and the provision of the building blocks for each WP. WP2 will also coordinate activities related to sustainability and ecological impact. This activity will be implemented with the entire consortium so that these issues can be addressed for the entire silicon photonics value chain.

The objectives of WP2 are:
  • O2.1: To define the requirements of each technology domain and its validation criteria. The definition of the requirements of WP5 (System Demonstrators) will allow to identify the key parameters needed by WP4 and WP3 to design their deliveries. WP2 will ensure coherence between WP5 demonstrators' requirements and technical feasibility by WP3 and WP4 and will align specifications of partners.
  • O2.2: To identify the relationships among the WPs and define the procurement links that bond the different activities and deliveries of the project through all the Work Packages. In a value chain, each WP will provide to the next one the building blocks for the next level, thus creating a homogeneous structure through the whole project.
  • O2.3: To define and assess safe and just targets of environmental impacts for the silicon photonics ecosystem, according to the planetary boundary framework in absolute sustainability.
