T2.3 Definition of the requirements of the photonics applications

Targeted demonstrators of WP5 are addressing a wide range of applications: Telecom and datacom which can beconsidered as historical markets for silicon photonics but also free space communications, lidar and neuromorphiccomputing. In the STARLight project, all these demonstrators will use the PIC100 platform. The aim of this task isto gather the requirements for the technology demonstrators which will be used to showcase the capabilities and theversatility of the silicon photonics platform PIC100. The output of this Task will be then used by Task 2.2 asadditional input to define the requirements for the circuits and partially by Task 2.3 as additional input to define therequirements for the technologies.

For each demonstrator, Task 2.1 will summarize use cases description, the proposed architecture and the high-level system specifications.
  • SICOYA will lead the work for Datacom & Hyperscaler demonstrators.
  • UNIPV will lead the work for AI Accelerator demonstrators
  • THALES will lead the work for Sensing demonstrators.
  • ERICSSON will lead the work for Telecom demonstrators.
